Washington Life: W Taipei’s Hip Tranquility

In October–which feels like centuries ago!–I traveled to Taipei, Taiwan, to attend Taipei IN Style, a three-day showcase of fashion and accessories designers from Taiwan and elsewhere in Asia, alongside a trade show featuring innovative textiles, trimmings, and technology for the industry. I had the opportunity to stay at the luxurious W Taipei, a fairly new hotel in the heart of Taipei’s Xinyi District, known for business, culture, and nightlife. I’ve stayed at a few W Hotels around the world and they’re predictable, in a very good way–and between the jet lag and four busy days and nights running around the city for work and play, I was glad to come home to this “stylish yet serene oasis” in Taipei’s hustle and bustle. I was also lucky to have the chance to try many of the exciting dishes on the menu at YEN, the hotel’s penthouse restaurant led by Ken Yu, who earned a Michelin Star at his previous restaurant in Hong Kong. You can read my full review of the hotel, including an interview with Chef Ken Yu, at the Washington Life website.
